Hi. I hope someone can help. I left my mac on all night. It was asleep when I woke up this morning. All of a sudden I heard a strange noise coming from the computer. I got up and tried to wake the mac up. Nothing. I ran a diagnostic CD that came with the computer and it found an error in my Mass Memory. The error code is 2STF/7/3:ATA-100ata-6-Master.
Is this ominous?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: mac iBook not starting up
Sun, April 2, 2006 - 10:32 PMif you haven't done so already, go to the "Genius Bar" in your local mac store. i had a similar problem about one year ago with my iBook and it ended up being an issue with the logic board. quick fix... i had my little baby back in just under 2 days, but the memory was all erased. if you regularly back up your hard drive, then the memory issue will not be a problem. i hope, for your sake, that you *do* make it a habit to back up.
good luck!
