Can someone please tell me how do I get .avi and .mov mpg that I've downloaded to play on my imac?? I downloaded every version and plugins for my Quicktime and Windows Media Players for my imac and still it says the file cannot be opened because it's a format that Quicktime does not recognize. Too frustrating. PLEASE HELP ME ASAP....

AVI, FLV, 3ivX, DivX, Flash Screen Video, MS-MPEG4, Sorenson H.263, Truemotion VP6, and Xvid
* AVI support for: AAC, AC3 Audio using A52Codec, H.264, MPEG4, and VBR MP3

flip4mac.com/
The free version is there, but they do almost everything to make sure you don't see it.
As to AVI files, the problem is that they can be created with an assortment of codecs (they code and decode files, hence the name codec). There's no easy way to tell which codecs were used, so they may not open on Windows, either.
